•I grew up in a single parent household, my mom coming from a whole different country, not knowing English was a challenge growing up. For most of my childhood my mom was undocumented, when she was finally able to become a US resident we lived in Mexico for nine years, for nine years I would wake up at 3am to cross the border and make it to school in time (It's crazy to think I crossed to a whole different country everyday lol) During all those years I maintained 4.0 GPA and took college level classes while in high school....

Dr. Liz Aquino is an Associate Professor at DePaul University’s School of Nursing. Her clinical background is in surgical-trauma intensive care nursing.
