About Martha
Hola, I’m Martha Salmon and I am the Founder and Owner of Latinx, RN.
Welcome, I am SO glad you're here. A little about me: I currently am teaching for West Coast University and UCLA as well as travel nursing. I decided to step away from my job as full time floor nurse in 2021, and so far I am really enjoying it.
I started as an LVN, but becoming a Registered Nurse had always been my purpose. After getting pregnant at the age of 19 and only 3 months into my LVN program, becoming an RN seemed to be impractical; though having many obstacles stacked against me, such as: having 2 kids, a husband, and a home to keep up, all by the time I was 21, I was determined to push forward and achieve my goals of becoming the first Latina, RN in my family.
I want nothing more than to influence, inspire and help people from all over reach their goals, regardless of the challenges life may provide. I started the movement, formally known as: Latina, RN, now Latinx, RN, with high hopes to remind people to be proud of where they came from, and encourage more Latinas/Latinos/Latinx to pursue a career in nursing. I strongly believe, “If she could do it, anyone can do it!”
